Personal Life

Arella is the daughter of Rob Guirantes and Demetria. Her father is from the Bronx and her mother is from Somers, NY.

She was just 3 when her parents first got a sense of her competitive nature.

Her dad used to help coach the JV and varsity boys basketball teams in Bellport. At that time he didn’t think much at first of Arella’s new passion. Demetria, who was also a girls basketball coach at Bellport Middle School said, “When Rob saw she was serious, he jumped on board.” 

Bellport To Rutgers To WNBA

Guirantes enrolled at Bellport High School where she played basketball for the college team, scoring over 2,000 points, and was selected to the NYSSWA All-State First Team. At IMG Academy, she averaged 33 points, 13 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 3 steals, and 2.6 blocks per game. 

Guirantes committed to playing for the Texas Tech Lady Raiders. She was named Freshman of the Week for the Big 12 one time. As a freshman, she scored 9.9 points per game and started 27 out of 29 games.

For sophomore, she transferred to Rutgers but sat out due to NCAA transfer rules. As a redshirt Sophomore in 2018-19, she appeared in all 32 contests with 21 starts scoring at 12.1 points per game. She was Honorable Mention All-Big ten and Met Player of the Week on 17th December. 

As a redshirt junior, she played in 30 contests with 30 starts, leading the team with 37.1 minutes per game. Her 2019-20 Awards includes:
