Bynum hails from Corona, California, and was a student at Centennial High School. Initially deemed undersized for football, he didn't join the varsity team until his junior year.

During his senior year, Bynum showcased his skills, amassing 70 tackles and defending nine passes. He garnered a three-star rating from 247Sports and Rivals as a recruit, receiving scholarship offers from notable schools such as California, Arizona, and Utah.

Bynum’s Stellar College Career

Bynum chose to play for California on July 1, 2015. He didn't play in his first year, but in the following year, he became a starting player and was recognized as Cal’s Most Valuable Freshman after making 58 tackles, breaking up eight passes, and getting two interceptions.

In his next year, the star made 48 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, broke up 12 passes, and got two interceptions.

During his third year, he achieved 63 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, one interception, and broke up nine passes, earning second-team All-Pac-12 Conference honors. Initially opting out of the 2020 season, Bynum later changed his mind when the Pac-12 decided to resume fall football.

What's more, a 6-foot-tall football player participated in four games in 2020 and received first-team All-Pac-12 honors after making 15 tackles, one interception, and three pass breakups.

From a Late Draft Pick to a Defensive Star

Bynum joined the Minnesota Vikings in the 2021 NFL Draft as the 125th overall pick. He signed a contract with the team on May 13, 2021. He played his first NFL game against the Cincinnati Bengals, making four tackles and deflecting one pass.

In his third game against the Seattle Seahawks, he got his first career interception. In Week 6 against the Carolina Panthers, he had his best game with 14 tackles and two pass deflections. He then had two interceptions in Week 8 against the Dallas Cowboys, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

Camryn Bynum was born in Corona, California on July 19, 1998, to Jennifer and Curtis Bynum. He has four siblings: Cierra, C.J., Caiya, and Caleb. Jennifer, his mother, is a third-generation Filipino-American with strong ties to San Camryn Bynum's father Curtis Bynum.

His Brother is a Former Football Player

In addition, Bynum has a brother named C.J. Bynum who used to play high school football at Centennial. He was a standout player, achieving several honors including second-team all-state lineman and first-team all-conference offensive lineman.

C.J. also won the conference championship three times and played for Dixie State in 2014 before transferring to Lindenwood. After college, he didn't pursue football further but is now more involved in dirt bike riding.
