Cris Cyborg is a Brazilian and American mixed martial artist. Cyborg was married to MMA fighter Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos and after six years of dedication to love and happiness of marriage, the couple called the end to the relationship in December 2011. Cris embraced her ex-husband nickname "Cyborg" as her ring name.

The former husband of Cris, Evangelista Santos is also a Brazilian mixed martial artist. Santos became a professional martial arts fighter at the age of 20. He has competed for Strikeforce, PRIDE Fighting Championship, Cage Rage, International Vale Tudo Championships, Pancrase, Jungle Fight, and World Victory Road. And after two decades of MMA career, he retired.

On 19 June 2009, in the event headlined Strikeforce Challengers 2: Villasenor vs. Cyborg where Santos had faced Joey Villasenor got him a loss by split decision. Even so the loss, Cyborg earned the payment of $10,000. The same amount was paid to him when he won against Marius Zaromskis on 17 June 2010. Further, in the title challenge against Nick Diaz on 29 January 2011, the earnings for his loss was $20,000. He earned the same payment on 10 September 2011 in Strikeforce: Heavyweight Grand Prix Semifinals.

Every MMA fighter undergoes severe physical injuries and has to do major surgeries and Evangelista Santos has no less injury. From bruises to arm injury Santosh has suffered it all. The broken skull injury was his worst one. The seven hours long surgery had a huge bill. His fans and supporters raised funds of more than $24,000 through the GoFundMe Fundraiser started by his ex-wife Cris Cyborg. But the expense of the surgery was taken by Bellator 158, and the total expense hasn't been revealed.

After his retirement, Santos is running his Chute Boxe’s gym in Texas and works with young amateur and professional athletes in Uberlandia, Minas Gerais as the head of the Thai federation.

Santos' Career and Awards

Evangelista Santos started his professional career in 1997. Right at the start of his career, he won his first two fights with the British Cage Rage organization. Santos then debuted in Japan's PRIDE FC with a loss against submission specialist Kazuhiro Nakamura.

He also lost against James Zikic in the match for the Cage Rage World Light Heavyweight Championship. After that, he won the World Victory Road Presents: Sengoku Raiden Championships against Makoto Takimoto.

The Black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Evangelista debuted in Strikeforce on June 19, 2009. He lost the match headlined Strikeforce Challengers: Villasenor vs. Cyborg event against Joey Villasenor.

He conquered his second match in Strikeforce and defeated Marius Zaromskis.On January 29, 2011, Santosh challenged the Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz but unfortunately lost by armbar submission. Santosh consecutively suffered four losses. Thereafter Santosh remained inactive for a long period and got the release from Strikeforce.
