Dana White says Conor McGregor isn't Retired but won't Fight in 2020 MMA

Earlier before his Octagon return against Donald Cerrone, Conor McGregor announced that he will stay active in 2020 and will take around 3 fights this year but it seems like he is done fighting in 2020. In a recent interview, UFC President Dana White claimed that he doesn't have any plan for the Notorious in 2020.

Talking to Barstool Sports' latest edition of “My Mom’s Basement”, White said:

“This year, he’s retired. He doesn’t have a fight this year, and he won’t have a fight this year. Conor McGregor will not fight in 2020. “I’m not saying he won’t fight in 2021, but I’m telling you we don’t have a fight planned for him in 2021. But I guarantee you he will not fight in 2020. Conor McGregor is retired.”

The former double division champ announced his retirement in an interview with Ariel Helwani in June and revealed that nothing in the UFC really excited him. Conor also had announced that he is retired twice previously which made people think that this is not the permanent retirement. Even White doesn't believe the Irishman is retired and also said he wouldn't offer any fight for Conor.

“Do we all believe he’ll stay retired?” White asked. “I think most of us don’t believe that he’ll remain retired, but let me put it to you this way: I owe fighters that are under contract with me three fights a year. OK? If I don’t deliver those three fights a year, I have to pay them. Conor McGregor is retired, whether people want to believe it or not.

White added.

UFC and Conor ans will have to wait 6 more months to know if the Notorious will make a return and fight in the Octagon once again.
