
2022 FIFA World Cup is the 22nd running of the FIFA World Cup competition, which will be held in Qatar. It is scheduled from 21 November to 18 December 2022. Not to mention, this will be the very first World Cup to be held in the Arab. France is the reigning World Cup champions.
Everyone is wondering why this World Cup will be held from late November to mid-December? It is because of Qatar's intense summer heat. This is the first time tournament is not to be held in May, June, or July. Further, it must be played in a minimized timeframe of around 28 days.
What's more? The tournament will be the ultimate to have 32 teams, with an exceeding 48 teams planned for the upcoming 2026 tournament in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
FIFA announced the list of 36 referees, 69 assistant referees and 24 video assistant referees for the tournament on 19 May 2022. This time something is new: women referees will referee games at a major men's tournament for the first time: Salima Mukansanga from Rwanda, Stephanie Frappart from France, and Yoshimi Yamashita from Japan.
