Iceland Football team represents Iceland in the international football competitions and is controlled by Football Association of Iceland. The team has experienced huge success in the 21st century. This is the first time they have ever qualified for the FIFA World Cup.

Iceland played their first major tournament, UEFA Euro 2016 defeating the European giant Netherlands in both homes and away which made them the smallest nation to qualify for a major tournament. They also reached the quarterfinals of the tournament defeating England.

Iceland qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2018 as the Group I winners of the UEFA confederation qualification ahead of Croatia, Ukraine, and Turkey. They currently rank 21 in the FIFA ranking and 19th is their best ever rank. Their lowest ranking was 131 in 2012.
Rúnar Kristinsson is the highest capped player with 104 appearances and the highest scorer of the team is Eiður Guðjohnsen with 26 goals. The head coach of the team is Heimir Hallgrímsson and Aron Gunnarsson is the current captain.
