Matthew Michael McLain a.k.a. Matt McLain is an American college baseball shortstop representing the UCLA Bruins. He is one of the top-ranked hitters and a middle infielder in the 2021 MLB Draft with MLB.com ranking him the #12 prospect.
Orange, California native, Matt McLain was born on 6th August 1999, under the star sign Leo. The twenty-one years old holds an American nationality and is of white ethnic background. Both his parents are athlete: father, Mike played football at UCLA while mother, Wendi McLain, was an All-American softball and volleyball player. He has two younger brothers, Sean and Nick.
McLain finished his high school career playing for the Amold O. Beckman High School in Irvine, California. During his senior year, he batted .369 with three home runs. He committed to representing the UCLA baseball team.
In the 2018 MLB Draft, McLain was picked by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first round (25th overall). But, he chose to enroll at UCLA.
In the Summer of 2018, cLain played in the West Coast League for the Bellingham Bells. He was awarded the Top Prospect Award. During his freshman season at UCLA, he appeared in 61 games, starting sixty of them in which he slashed .203/.276/.355 with four home runs and thirty RBIs in 2019.
In the 2020 season, he appeared in 13 games and batted .397 with four home runs before the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Matt McLain is yet to turn professional. As per NCAA, the college athlete does not have a salary or any other compensation playing for the college team. Instead, the college athlete enjoys a full scholarship.
