Inside His High School Career

Caliendo was born on October 21, 1997, in Brookfield, Wisconsin to parents Sue and Charlie Caliendo. During his time at Brookfield East High School, he excelled in football, serving as an offensive lineman. He demonstrated outstanding leadership as a team captain and was recognized as the most valuable player during his senior year. 

Additionally, he earned a first-team all-state selection by the Associated Press and was named the Greater Metro Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year. Valued for both his athletic and academic achievements, Caliendo was also honored as an all-conference scholar-athlete. ESPN ranked him as a three-star prospect and the 11th-best player in the state.

Caliendo attended Western Michigan University (WMU) from 2016 to 2020, where he played football for four years. After redshirting his freshman year, he became a starter in his sophomore year, playing in all 12 games and earning academic all-conference honors.

Likewise, he was named a Mid-American Conference (MAC) Distinguished Scholar-Athlete and contributed to his team's strong performance in various offensive categories within the MAC.

Throughout his junior and senior years, Caliendo maintained his exceptional performance by starting in all 26 games and earning academic all-conference and MAC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete honors once more. He achieved further recognition as a first-team All-MAC selection in his senior year, contributing to his team's conference-leading statistics in scoring, rushing, and total offense.

Over the course of his college career, he played a total of 2,477 snaps and played a significant role in the WMU offense, which produced several NFL prospects, including D’Wayne Eskridge and Jaylen Hall.

NFL Draft 

Despite his remarkable college achievements, Caliendo went undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft. Subsequently, he signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent, joining the team following their previous Super Bowl victory.

Although he competed for a roster spot during training camp and the preseason, he was released during the final roster cuts. However, he was later signed to the Chiefs' practice squad, where he spent the majority of the season.

In January 2023, Caliendo was promoted to the active roster due to injuries on the Chiefs' offensive line. He made his NFL debut in the AFC Championship Game against the Buffalo Bills, contributing on special teams.

Additionally, he played as a backup guard in the Super Bowl LVII against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where the Chiefs emerged victorious with a 31-28 win, granting Caliendo his first Super Bowl ring in his rookie season.

Caliendo wears the number 66 and is part of the Chiefs’ team for the 2023 season. He has appeared in three games this season, mainly on special teams. He is still improving his skills and learning from his experienced teammates, such as Orlando Brown Jr. and Joe Thuney. He aims to get more playing time and help the Chiefs’ offense in the future.
