Andrea Dovizioso Early Life

Andrea Dovizioso was born on 23 March 1986 in Forlimpopoli, Italy. He began riding at a young age as he was introduced to the mini motorcycle at the age of four and went on to win the two national championships in short order.  At 14, he won the 2000 Aprilia Challenge in Misano and also won both the Italian and European 125cc Championships in the following year.

At the age of 16, when most people learn to drive, Dovizioso took part in the 125cc World Championship. Team Scot Honda rider won the 2004 125cc World Championship with five victories and six podium finishes.

Team Scot Honda moved Dovizioso to the 250cc World Championship where he won the Rookie of the Year award for his five podiums and the Championship's overall third place.

The next two years saw Dovizioso challenge for the championship, but both times he finished second to Jorge Lorenzo, the current MotoGP rider.

In September 2007, Dovizioso announced that he would move with his existing team to MotoGP in 2008. He passed Valentino Rossi in the last round of the opening of the Qatar season to take fourth.

He proceeded to be one of Honda's most consistent riders, finishing fourth and fifth on several occasions and finishing the third position at the Malaysian Sepang GP in a podium.

He finished fifth overall, making him the highest ranked MotoGP champion in 2008. Later he was hired by Repsol Honda team for their 2009 campaign.

Dovizioso won his first MotoGP race at the British Grand Prix in wet conditions in Donington Park in July 2009. He continued with Repsol Honda for 2010 campaign along with Dani Pedrosa.

After challenging for the win, he finished second in the race, equal to his result from the British Grand Prix; Dovizioso finished second in the following race in Malaysia again.

In 2011, Dovizioso began the season well and finished fourth in Qatar after a long race with Marco Simoncelli. He continued with Repsol Honda for the 2012 campaign as well and producing a significantly good performance.

He joined Yamaha in the year 2012, winning Supermoto-Race on SIC Supermoto Day together with Mauno Hermunen, a race to honor late Italian racer Marco Simoncelli, who died in the race crash in 2011.

In 2013 he joined Ducati to replace Valentino Rossi in their factory team finishing the fourth position at French Grand Prix. Dovizioso finished the season in the eighth position, behind Stefan Bradl.

In 2014, Dovizioso’s season began in a positive way, who achieved three top-five results in the first four races, including a third place in the Grand Prix of the Americas in Texas, and won his first pole position in Japan with Ducati, his first pole position since 2010.

Dovizioso continued his racing career with Ducati in 2017, starting the season strongly by finishing 2nd in Qatar. later Dovizioso becomes first Italian rider to win Italian GrandPrix and eventually, in 2018, Dovizioso won at the opening of the season in Qatar, beating Marc Marquez on the line.
