Andrea Dovizioso was born on 23 March 1986 in Forlimpopoli, Italy. He began riding at a young age as he was introduced to the mini motorcycle at the age of four and went on to win the two national championships in short order. In 2011, Dovizioso began the season well and finished fourth in Qatar after a long race with Marco Simoncelli. He continued with Repsol Honda for the 2012 campaign as well and producing a significantly good performance.
He joined Yamaha in the year 2012, winning Supermoto-Race on SIC Supermoto Day together with Mauno Hermunen, a race to honor late Italian racer Marco Simoncelli, who died in the race crash in 2011.
