Sullivan Barrera is a Cuban professional boxer who competes in the light heavyweight division. Turned professional in 2009, his pro record shows (22-3-0) win-loss-draw. As an amateur, Barrera was the gold medalist at the 2000 AIBA Junior World Championship under the middleweight division. 

Guantanamo Bay, Cuba native, Sullivan was born on 25th February 1982, under the star sign Pisces. Barrera moved to the U.S. to pursue a boxing career, leaving his entire family in Cuba.

Career

On 21st August 2009, Sullivan Barrera made his professional debut at Resort & Spa, Miami Beach, Florida, the U.S. where he faced Anthony Adorno. He won the fight via TKO. 

In his 8th fight, after compiling a record (8-0), he won his career first title, WBA Federation, and WBO Latino interim light heavyweight titles on 24th June 2011 at Dade County Auditorium, Miami, Florida, Florida, defeating Frank Paines.      

In December 2015, Barrera faced Karo Murat in an IBF eliminator. He won the fight via KO. On 26th March 2016, he faced his career first loss against Andre Ward in round 12 via a Unanimous decision. 

On 15th July 2017, Barrera faced Joe Smith Jr. for WBC International light heavyweight title. He won the fight and title in round 10. On 3rd March 2018, he faced Dmitry Bivol for WBA light heavyweight title but got defeated via TKO. 

On 9th July 2021, he is scheduled to face Gilberto Ramirez at Banc of California Stadium, Los Angeles, California, U.S.
