Jones has been playing football since his high school days. He attended the Eastern Washington University where he played college football and was a first-team All-American.
Taiwan Asti Eric Jones was born on July 26, 1988, in San Fransisco, California. He played as a running back for his high school team of Deer Valley High School in Antioch. During his high school years, he earned first-team San Francisco Chronicle All-Metro honors and was also named MVP of the Bay Valley Athletic League. He helped his high school team Wolverines to their first league title with a regular season record of 10-0.
After graduating high school, Taiwan Jones enrolled in Eastern Washington in 2007. He started playing for the Universities football team and though, assigned the position of cornerback at first, he was later moved to his high school position of running back later on. During his collegiate career, he was a first team All-Big Sky Conference selection and first-team All-American. He ended his junior season of 2010 with a stats of 1,742 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns.
Taiwan Jones forewent his senior season at college and entered the 2011 NFL Draft. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the fourth round as 125th overall. For his debut NFL, he had to go up against Kansas City Chiefs in the 7th week of the season.
Jones started in the position of running back, but in 2013, was switched to the position of cornerback. He was later reverted to the position of running back in 2015 under the take over of the new head coach Jack Del Rio. Jones signed a three-year contract extension with the Raiders on February 24, 2014.

After 6 seasons under their service, the Raiders released Taiwan Jones on July 28, 2017. Following his release from the Raiders, Jones was signed by the Buffalo Bills on August 2, 2017. In week 9 of the 2017 season, he suffered from a broken game in the game which resulted in him being kept in the injured reserve list on November 4, 2017.

Despite the games missed due to injury, the Bills were happy with Taiwan Jones' performance and re-signed him on March 16, 2018. He continued to play with the Bills for the 2018 season. On October 31, 2018, Jones was placed on injured reserve with a neck injury.
