Born 12 April 1986, Blerim Džemaili (Albanian: Blerim Xhemaili) is a Swiss professional soccer star playing as a midfielder for Bologna and Switzerland's national team.

 

Making his debut for the Switzerland national team in 2006, Džemaili was selected for FIFA World Cup squad in 2006, 2014 and 2018.

Blerim Dzemaili Early Life and Football 

Džemaili was born in an Albanian family from Bogovinje Ekredin and Shemije Džemaili. He and his family migrated to Zürich, Switzerland at a very young age of four. He, at nine, was already playing for various Jr. Swiss teams of Oerlikon Zürich. At age 14, Blerim moved to third league team YF Juventus as a youth player before moving to FC Zürich in 2001 at the age of 17.

Džemaili's Club Career with Zürich

Dzemaili at the age of 17 made it to the senior Zurich team in 2000. In his first season, he made 30 appearances for the club, scoring twice and creating three assists.

Džemaili from the beginning of his career played a defensive midfielder. In the 2004-05, Zurich won the Swiss Cup. Džemaili was named Zurich's captain in 2005–06' Swiss Super League at the age of 19 and became one of the youngest captains in Swiss football history. Džemaili led his team to glory as Zürich won the Swiss Super League in the 2005–06 and 2006–07 seasons.

Later after winning the Swiss league season he opted out to Premier League signing up with Bolton Wanderers.

Later from Bolton Wanderers, he moved to Torino penning a €2 Million contract. After that, he was purchased by Parma in the summers of 2010 and 2011 for a whopping €7 million. Later, he was signed by On Napoli for €9 million on 25 June 2011. So far Džemaili appeared in UEFA Champions League group stages six times and has led Napoli, to Serie A finals too, scoring three times and providing four assists and even lifting the trophy disappointing Juventus.

Three-year in Galatasaray

On 1 September 2014, Džemaili signed a  contract with Turkish Süper Lig team Galatasaray for a €2.35 million dollar deal.

Further, in Aug. 2015 as per his previous deal with Genoa, he left Galatasaray and even paid €1.3 million of his €2.1 million salaries to Galatasaray for violating the contract before its full commencement.

2016–17 Season

Džemaili returned to Galatasaray on 1 July 2016. He played once for the club against Manchester United in the club's pre-season friendlies.

On 17 August 2016, Džemaili returned to Italian club Bologna paying Galatasaray a €1.3 million transfer fee.

Montreal Impact (loan)

On 9 December 2016, he penned a contract with (MLS) team on loan in the spring of 2017, which ended On 19 January 2018, hence Džemaili returned to Bologna. He had seven goals and 10 assists in 22 games for Montreal.

Blerim Dzemaili Personal life

Džemaili married Albanian model Erjona Sulejmani in 2015 and gave birth to their eldest son, Luan in the same year. Erjona Sulejmani was also featured in an Italian version of WAGS where she was quizzed about her sex life with Džemaili.

Her statement on Džemaili's performance with her in a day before the match was like:

“Sex before matches? Footballers are not great lovers. They prefer to do it themselves.” 

After that incident, the couple developed some personal problems and separated later in 2017.
