One of the noticeable footballers in the Brazil, Fred currently plays a striker for Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A Club "Atletico Mineiro". Similarly, he also played for Brazil national team and clubs like America Mineiro, Cruzeiro, Lyon, and Fluminense.

Early Life

Fred birth name is Frederico Chaves Guedes. He was born on October 3, 1983, in Teofilo Otoni, Minas Gerais, Brazil. He was born to his father, Juarez Guedes, and mother, Gizelda Chaves and grew up with his siblings, Karina and Rodrigo Chaves.

Club Career

Fred began his football career by joining youth academy “America Mineiro” at the age of 5. After a few years, he was promoted to a senior team in 2003. Further, he left the club in 2004 after scoring 9 goals in 26 appearances.

In 2004, Fred signed a contract with Cruzeiro where he scored 24 goals in 43 games in 1 year. Fred was then signed by Lyon with the transfer fee of €15 million (€ 3 million was received by Fred, 5% as a solidarity contribution, € 1.4 million to Lyon's agent and €510,913 in Brazilian taxes). 

Fred became the second-highest goalscorer in the 2005-06 Ligue 1 season. He won the Ligue 1, Coupe de France and Trophee des championship with his team. Fred scored 34 goals in 88 matches for Lyon until 2009.

Fred asked for his transfer in 2009 with the club and later signed a five-year pre-contract with Fluminense. After being released from Lyon, he made his official debut for Fluminense on March 15, 2009, against Macae.

Along with his team, Fred won the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A, Campeonato Carioca and Primeira Liga. Fred made over 150 appearances and scored 91 goals before ending his career with the team in 2016.

Atletico Mineiro

Fred was then signed by Atletico Mineiro which was revealed by the club president Daniel Nepomuceno through his official Twitter account in June 2016. He was included in the club with a two-year contract and currently plays as a striker. He is so far scored 17 goals in 43 league games.

International Career

In 2005, Fred was called up for Brazil national team and made his debut in a friendly match against Guatemala in April 2005. He scored his first two-goal for his national team against United Arab Emirate in November 2005. He was also the member of the team that won the Copa Americana and FIFA Confederations Cup.

Some of his teammates were Neymar, Marcelo, Dani Alves etc.

Fred announced that his international career is over following the criticism during the 2014 World Cup. Then after, Fred confirmed his international career end in 2016.

Personal Life

The former Brazilian footballer has married twice till now and is currently in a marital relationship with his wife Paula Armani. The couple got married to each other in 2015 in Brazil after dating each other for about 4 years.

Fred was previously married to a model, Amanda Goecking but was divorced in 2007. The couple together has a daughter named Geovanna born in 2006. Besides, Fred has been in several other relationships. He previously dated a businesswoman Ana Gabriela in 2013 but separated shortly after. He also had an affair with Ana Gabriela for a couple of years since 2007 but broke up later.

Fred is among the successful players of his time and earns a good amount. His current salary at the club is estimated to be around €130,000 plus bonuses per month. He previously received €200,000 as salary while he was at Fluminense. His annual income from salary is around $2 million. Fred's current net worth is estimated to be around $12 million.

Besides, Fred earns huge amount of money from sponsorships and endorsements. His deal with Adidas was worth $5 million. Moreover, he also had contracts with Amir Somoggi, sports marketing consultant.
