Joe Corona was born on July 9, 1990, in Los Angeles, California, United States. He holds an American, Mexican and Salvadoran nationality and is of Mexican and Salvadoran descent. His father Angel Corona was from Mexico and mother Janira Corona was from El Salvador.
Grew up with the huge passion of football, he started playing football at his early age. As a youth, he started his career with Nomdas Academy and then played for Tijuana for a season.
Joe Corona started his professional career with the Club Tijuana in 2010. He scored 12 goals in 180 appearances for the club.
