Mathew Allan Leckie commonly known as Mathew Leckie is a professional football player who primarily plays as a winger and occasionally as a defender for Australia national team and German Bundesliga football club, Hertha BSC.

After playing for the junior team of Bulleen Lions, he joined the main team in 2008 to start his senior career.

He left the club in 2009 and later on signed a two-year contract with fellow Australian soccer club, Adelaide United in 2009. He made his debut against Melbourne Victory on 18 September 2009.

The Australian midfielder made 35 appearances and scored 8 goals for the club before leaving for Germany.

Upon arriving in Germany, he signed with German professional football club, Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2011 and scored his first goal against Aberdeen in a friendly club match on 9 July 2011.

He was later transferred to the fellow German club, FSV Frankfurt as part of the loan deal from Borussia for 2012/13 season.

After playing for the reserve team of Frankfurt, he signed a three-year permanent contract with the club in 2013.
