Miroslav Josef Klose or famously known as Miroslav Klose is German retired professional football player who plays as a striker for German national team and is currently on the German national team’s coaching team.

He has played for German football clubs such as  FC O8 Homburg,1.FC Kaiserslautern, Werder Bremen and Italian Club, Lazio.

Klose made his international debut for Germany in 2001 and is the member of the German team that won the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Currently, he holds the record for highest number of goals scored in FIFA World Cup history with 16.

Miroslav Klose is of Polish nationality. He was born to mother, Barbara Jez who played in national women handball team and father, Josef Klose, a professional football player who played for the French club, Auxerre in 1978.

Klose was born on June 9, 1978, in Opole, Poland. He started his football with German village club, SG Blaubach-Diedelkopf.

Klose trained carpentry before becoming a professional football player.

Miroslav Klose’s Career

After playing for the reserve team of  FC 08 Homburg, he joined the main team in 1998 and later moved to the fellow German team 1 FC Kaiserslautern.

He then signed a four-year contract with German Bundesliga club, Werder Bremen for a reported transfer fee of  5 million in March 2004.

Klose made his debut against Schalke O4 when he comes off as a substitute for Nelson Valdez on 6 August 2004. He scored his first goal against VfL Wolfsburg on 29 August 2004.

Klose later transferred to German Bundesliga giant, Bayern Munich and signed a four-year contract on  28 June 2007.

He was the part of the Bayern Munich that went on to win the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal, and DFL Supercup.

The German striker signed a three-year contract with Italian football club, Lazio on 9 June 2011 and scored his first goal against Rabotnicki during 2012/13 UEFA  Europa League.

After plating for several seasons for Lazio, he played and scored his final goal in the last appearance for the Italian club against Fiorentina on 15 May 2016.

Miroslav Klose’s International Career

He opted to play for German team instead of his birth nation of Poland and made his full international debut for Germany against Albania on 24  March 2001 during 2002 FIFA World Cup Qualifier.

Klose scored his first international goal in the same match and later played at the 2002 FIFA World Cup where he scored a hattrick against Saudi Arabia during the group stage.

Overall, he scored 5 goals in the tournament in the tournament.

He later went on to represent Germany at the UEFA Euro Cup 2008 and 2012 editions as well as played at 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Klose was the part of the German squad led by Philipp Lahm along with fellow striker, Thomas Muller that won the 2014 FIFA World Cup by beating Argentina that had the player like Lionel Messi in the final of the tournament.

In the same tournament, he broke the record previously held by the Brazilain striker, Ronaldo to become the highest goal scorer in the FIFA World Cup history.

Overall, he made 137 appearances for the German team and is currently highest goal scorer for the country with 71 goals.

Miroslav Klose Personal Life

Following his retirement from professional football on 1 November 2016, he joined the German national team when he got invited by the German coach, Joachim Low as a coaching staff.

Klose is a Roman Catholic. He is married to his wife, Sylwia and the couple is blessed with twin boys, Luan and Noah Klose. Sylwia is Polish and is together with Klose since 2003. The couple got married in 2004.

The two first met each other in the fan shop of 1. FC Kaiserslautern. 

His wife was rumored to have an extramarital affair with a player named Patrick Owomoyela. Due the which she doesn't have a good relationship with Klose's family. He often visits his home to solve the issues.
