Nawaf Shaker Al-Abed, a.k.a Nawaf Al-Abed is a Saudi Arabian international footballer currently signed to Al-Hilal as a midfielder. Since 2011, he is in the Saudi Arabia national team. Also, he has represented Saudi Arabian U-23 national team from 2011-12.

Al-Hilal

An academic product of Al-HIlal, Al-Abed signed his first professional contract with the club and soon was promoted to the first team. In 7th November 2009, he scored the fastest goal in professional football against Al-Shoulla in 2 seconds in Prince Faisal Under 21 Cup. However, the match was canceled because Al-Hilal made 6 players which are over 21 years old play in the match.

In a match against Ittihad, Al-Abed scored a third penalty goal on 9th March 2017 and performed a celebration which eventually made Ittihad fans extremely angry and led him being banned for two games by the Saudi Arabia FA. Later, he appealed and the ban was lifted.

Nawaf Al-Abed's International Career

In 2011, Al-Abed was called for the first time in Saudi Arabia U23 national team. The same year, he earned a first call-up to the senior team of the Saudi Arabia national game.

His first international goal came on 19th November 2014, in a 1-0 win over Yemen at Gulf Cup of Nations. Again, in the semi-final match against the United Arab Emirates, he scored his second international goal. The match ended in a 3-2 win.

For the 2015 AFC Asian Cup, he was selected in Saudi Arabia’s squad, scoring his third international goal in a 4-1 loss of North Korea in the Team’s second group game.

In May 2018, Al-Abed was selected in Saudi Arabia’s preliminary team along with his teammates Mohammad Al-Sahlawi, Yasser Al Mosailem, and Taisir Al-Jassim for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
