Stanislav Cherchesov was born on 2 September 1963 (age 54) in Alagir, the Soviet Union to Salam Cherchesov and Rimma Cherchesova. He holds a Russian nationality.
Stanislav Cherchesov started playing football professionally in 1981 with Spartak Ordzhonikidze. He played for about 15 games and joined Spartak Moscow in 1984.
The Russian coach guarded the post of the club in 13 matches and signed with Lokomotiv Moscow for the 1988 season. He remained with the club for a season and played 30 matches. Cherchesov then signed with Spartak Moscow where he was a first choice goalkeeper.
Cherchesov remained with the club for 4 years appearing in 121 matches. He joined Tirol Innsbruck in 1996 after playing for Dynamo Dresden, Spartak Moscow. He had the longest stint with the club appearing in 182 matches in 6 years. He ended his playing career with Spartak Moscow in 2002.
