Wataru Endo is a Japanese professional footballer who is currently signed to  Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart as a defensive midfielder and captain. Also, he represents Japan's national team internationally and has earned 41 caps with two goals. 

Endo spent his youth career at Shonan Bellmare youth set-up before being promoted to the club's senior squad in 2010. For Shonan Bellmare, he played until 2015, appearing in 158 games with 23 goals. Then, he moved to Urawa Red Diamonds in 2016 and Sint-Truiden in 2020.

As a youth intern, Wataru Endo played for Shonan Bellmare in 2008. After playing for the junior team of Shonan Bellmare, he was promoted to the primary team in 2010

Before leaving the club in 2016, Endo played 158 games, netting 23 goals. He was a member of the team that won the 2014 J.League Division 2

Endo later signed a new contract with Urawa Reds on January 1, 2016, while his market value was estimated at €850K. He has so far scored three goals in 62 matches. He was awarded the 2016 J. League Cup, 2017 Suruga Bank Championship, and AFC Champions League along with his team

After representing the youth level, Endo made his full international debut for Japan on August 2, 2015, in a 2-1 loss against North Korea at the 2015 EAFF East Asian Cup. He has been capped 11 times for his national team. In addition, he played three games for Japan Olympic Team in 2016.
